About Dawn Edney

I work face to face with adults who want the space to think more clearly about what’s going on in their lives.

People often come to counselling when something doesn’t feel quite right — even if, on the surface, things are being managed. You might be used to coping, holding things together, or putting others first. Over time, that can become difficult to sustain.

My role is to offer a space where you can step out of that and look at things more honestly. I tend to work with people who are open to taking a bit more time with the process, rather than looking for immediate answers.

How I work

My approach is straightforward, thoughtful and down-to-earth. Clients often describe me as pragmatic, realistic, and easy to talk to.

I’m not overly clinical, and I don’t rely on jargon. Instead, I focus on creating a space where you can talk openly, think clearly, and begin to understand what’s happening beneath the surface.

We work at your pace, with space to reflect more fully – not just focusing on immediate concerns, but looking more deeply at patterns, relationships, and experiences that shape how things feel now.

I offer a dedicated space to work at depth, with care and attention.

Background

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered specialist accredited supervisor with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Alongside my private practice I have many years experience working in the NHS, GP surgeries and for Insurance providers like BUPA and AXA,

I have experience working with a range of issues, including depression, grief, anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, and periods of change or uncertainty.

Who I work with

I work with adults aged 16 and over.

Many are people who are used to managing on their own, and who want a space to pause, reflect, and understand themselves more fully.

You don’t need to be in crisis to come to counselling. Often, it begins with a sense that something could be different.

Many of the people I work with are not looking for quick solutions, but for the space to understand themselves more fully and make sense of patterns that have developed over time,
