Sometimes we find ourselves less able to deal with the demands of life and need a confidential, safe and secure place to express our thoughts and feelings away from friends and family. In reality, what we say to others can sometimes have a knock-on effect. I can offer a safe and confidential environment to speak about your problems.
While I won’t give you concrete advice or a checklist of things to do to feel better, what I will do is help you develop an understanding of your problems. When you understand yourself better and the way you think, this will ultimately help you develop a clearer understanding of your problems. Counselling can also help you understand other people’s point of view better, which can improve communication with those close to you.
I will aim to help you explore your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. This may involve talking about past events, such as those from childhood or trauma which may be more recent. I will help you explore and consider how your personality and life experiences influence your current thoughts, feelings, relationships and behaviour. Most people find this exploration and understanding helps them to deal with difficult situations and symptoms of depression and anxiety more effectively and improve relationships.
We would review our work together regularly to ensure we are meeting your needs. Usually clients can make noticeable change within 5-12 sessions.
